From the 20th to the 30th of May 2021 the first research campaign of the BONDS project took place by the PI Evita Kalogiropoulou. The campaign mainly focused on the study, analysis, and sampling of selected combustion features from the Neolithic site Kleitos 1 in Kozani, north-western Greece. Most of the work was conducted at the storerooms and laboratories of the Ephorate of Antiquities in Kozani. Sampling was supported by the expert technician of the Ephorate Mr. Dimitris Leontaridis, whom we thank wholeheartedly. At the end of the campaign geoarchaeological samples were transferred to the Malcom H. Wiener Laboratory for Archaeological Science at American School of Classical studies at Athens and from there to the Charles McBurney Laboratory for Geoarchaeology at the University of Cambridge, U.K.
